| Although to be fair I didn't think the one that put Hall in the clear was forward.

| The officials missed far too many forward passes from acting half by both sides.

| Its a shame SKY dont use what BBC did after the game they put a line on the pitch where the ball was passed from and where he caught it showing the ball went 5meters forward

| Not saying there weren't forward passes, but drawing a line from where the ball was passed and where it went is no use as passes aren't judged on that, they are judged in relation to the passer and also momentum (not to be confused with Stevos momentum rule) so if a player is running forward and he passes the ball, the ball can end up 5 metres forward from where it was passed and still be legal

The last bit is stevo s momentum rule , if the ball travels forward in relation to the goal line it is a forward pass

That isn't the correct way to judge a forward pass. If the ball carrier is running forwards at 15mph then it means the ball is moving at that speed also. When the pass is made, the ball still has forward momentum, even when the pass is perfectly flat in relation to the passer.

No it's not. Never ceases to amaze me so many RL fans just don't get the forward pass rule.
There is no 'momentum rule', but player and relative ball momentum is certainly taken into account when judging forward passes.
Quote Starbug="RFL Laws of the Game"The direction of a pass is relative to the player making it and not to the actual path relative to the ground. A player running towards his opponents’ goal line may throw the ball towards a colleague who is behind him but [size=130because of the thrower’s own momentum the ball travels forward relative to the ground[/size. This is not a forward pass as the thrower has not passed the ball forward in relation to himself. This is particularly noticeable when a running player makes a high, lobbed pass.'"
But that said, momentum or not there were a shtload of forward passes missed today.

| Yeah agreed there were forward passes missed but it doesn't help when fans make there own interpretations up like Starbug did there. Theres a video on Youtube somewhere (albeit a RU one) which shows the physics and nuances of the forward pass rule

| deliberate forward passes should be penalised against
if you dont pack down at a scrum properley then penalty the other way
and like in the NRL.......whoever packs down in the scrum to stop the clock should have to stay put not break away

It also looks more forward when the passer stops after releasing the ball, whilst ball and catcher are still going in forward momentum.
As an example Player with ball and support player doing 15 m.p.h throws out a flat pass and immediatly after releasing the ball slows down to 5 m.p.h, ball and support player still doing 15 m.ph. after a second, ball momentum loses a little momentum but the ball has travelled between 3 and 4 metres depending on strength of pass.
