| Quote Kosh="Kosh"In terms of potential benefit to the squad I'd say that it would need a pretty spectacular signing to be better than Moa.'"
Really?
You think he is that good? Granted he is playing well but he still has everything to prove imo. He has done well for 5/6 matches and that's all at the minute.
For me it would depend on what position they were lookng at recruiting in. There was talk of a centre but with the current options we have I am not sure that would be a good move.

| After Friday's performance and despite the views that there's no room for sentiment in sport, I'd sign Moa up. His efforts on and off the field, his commitment and general enthusiasm needs to be rewarded with a contract. He's only gonna get better. He's fitting in well and the 3 South Sea Islanders clearly get on well together, he'll be loyal too. As a friend pointed out you seem to get the best out of them when there is a small contingent as opposed to singly.

| i would think Kosh meant that it would have to be a good quota player rather than a Byrne/Cusack/Tony

I said [iin terms of potential benefit to the squad[/i not out-and-out quality.
Moa is a relatively inexpensive player with bags of potential in a position where we badly lack what he brings. That amplifies his value to the squad IMO, and would put him ahead of a better player in a different position - unless that player was very special. For example, I'd take Moa over an overseas centre any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

| Moa was signed as a "project" to prove himself .
He has done that . He should be rewarded with another contract.

There was a piece on this about Leeds a while back (I think it was the SLS a couple of seasons ago). Basically saying that Tony Smith realised the value of this with the likes of Lauitiiti, Webb, Toopi and Leuluai. Something about the family culture and bonding the polynesians tend to establish.

| Unless we can sign a centre or 1/2 back who will be 1st choice next season I can't see the point in letting Moa go. He's come on leaps and bounds and in a couple of years will be even better.
If he goes, we'll end up playing Lauaki at prop whereas I'd rather see him at 2nd row and used for impact.
We're also likely to be losing cusack at the end of next season, so I think it would be worth hanging onto him next year with a view to the future. Could be the kind of player who will be here for teh rest of his career

Lauaki, manu and moa were all at hilltop watching cott on saturday too, so they do spend a lot of time to gether, and must help them. Berro was also there, sat in a pram!!

Spot on, I really fear playing Lauaki at prop when he is so blatantly a second row.
