| He shows up really well on the dry, hard pitches but his weight makes him a bit easier to handle in the current, wetter conditions.
Just about his handling errors against Rovers. When I left the ground it was clear that it had been raining but I never noticed from the stands. I wondered why both teams coughed it up a lot in the second half. Also, that ball he dropped in the tackle following the poor pass (from Horne I think) - did you see how far in front of Ganson Rovers were at the ptb? There were three standing closest to Ganson, all of who were one or two yards in front. I haven't watched the replay so they were probably two yards behind him. None of this makes sense anymore, but I've typed it so...

Think the fact he doesn't seem to have a good hold of the ball is his biggest problem. Think he has stood in at FB pretty well considering.

| Quote PAUL M="PAUL M"The reserves are a complete waste of time for Hall, he needs to be playing regularly and in his best position which is centre.
My biggest complaint about Craig is not the fact he makes mistakes, its the fact he makes the same mistakes, he needs to start learning from his mistakes.'" i'l second that.

Same here.

| Hall has been involved in a lot of our tries recently and looks dangerous going forward so i'd have him in at right its where he's played all his junior rugby. Just the thought of him and Calderwood deffending down the same side scares me, both very light but i bet they'd score tries

| I think my original post was underlined on Firday night.
As Reardon is only half fit, he would still be better bet at full back. Even if he got injured his contract is void so why didn't Agar risk him over Hall?

| Might sound radical to some but I really would like to see Raynor given a go at Full Back with Hall and Calderwood on the Wings.
I like the thought of Raynors elusivness returning the ball which is an area we have been poor of late.
His defence isn't an issue and his ability under the high ball would be IMO less opposed than what it is on the Wing.

| starting to thinking he isn't the good prospect we thought he was
he hasn't improved at all IMO since his debut, he's still making the same silly errors, still lacks physical presence and is being shunted around all the different back positions
he still has time to improve, but i expected a bit more improvement by now to be honest

| This debate just typifies why we are in this situation and currently 8th in the table. It was plain to see before the season started our squad was not top 2 material and would have to play above itself in order to have any chance of success otherwise we would have to settle for mid-table at best.
So back to Craig Hall. There is no doubt he has some attacking talents, good feet and a bit of pace and seems to have a knack of getting over the try-line (something not many of our players seem to be good at).
But lets be serious for a moment. We all want this club to be challenging Leeds and Saints at the top of the tree & from winning at Cardiff in 2005 this should have been the springboard to kick-on and join them two as regular challengers for silverware. But the simple fact is we have gone backwards. Whether Craig Hall is deemed to be 1st choice or not he is playing regularly for the 1st team so judging by that he is the best we have got at this current time. This is in no way a personal attack on what is still a young man with a lot to learn, he has reached a level as a player that many of us would only get to dream about so talk of him being useless and rubbish just aren’t true, he is a good player. Whether he is a good player at SL level I aren’t so sure.
He is far too lightweight, too many errors, makes poor decisions and generally fills me with dread everytime the ball comes near him. But for a club who want to be challenging at the top end I really feel he isn’t good enough. Sure maybe at full back he has been left more exposed but do we really see us moving forward or up the table with Craig Hall as a 1st choice centre for the club?? Especially when you look at other clubs centres, I for one would put all of these in front of Hall if they were at this club.
Gleeson, Carmont, Gafa, Webster, Chev Walker, Kris Welham, Shenton, Gidley, Whaturia, Lawrence, Gibson, Senior, Bridge, King, Sykes.................basically just about any other centre in SL. You only have to look at Webster & Chev Walker across the river, there physical dominance over someone like Hall is clear to see (as much as it pains me to say that).

exactly, in 2005 we had Briscoe, Raynor, Yeaman, Whiting, Blacklock as our backs, 2006: Tony, Raynor, Yeaman, Domic, Blacklock with Briscoe used as cover
players like G Horne and Hall would have been no where near either back line, but in 2009 they are first choice in this inbalanced squad.
