| As soon as Gleeson signed for 18 months that signalled to me that Long would be getting another year.

Good points.
If Long can play like he did today for the rest of the season then yes give him another deal, he needs to stay fit though and be consistent.
Fitz again yes provided we play him at prop, Westy is a born 13 and needs to start playing there from next season.
Also depends on who else is available.

Well said.
I would consider giving them both deals depending upon what other options may or may not be available. No point in getting rid if the replacements are not up to the same standard.

| Long no, the club has know for at least a year that we would need a halfback, so hopefully they have someone lined up.
Fitz I would for another year, I would say yes, I can't see us getting a player from the NRL better than him, still as fit as ever. But as others have said not as a LF, prop or 2ndrow.
Use the quota spots of Lauaki and Phelps to sign a couple of backs.

| Fitz, most definitely and should stay as captain. A true leader and a fantastic grafter - has more than earnt another year at Hull FC imo, if he wants it. Further, I think his fitness allows for it as well.
Long - fitness has to be a major concern, further, he does seem to only be a big game player which works for us well in games like yesterday, not so much when we are playing Crusaders etc. One thing we need at Hull is what Fitz brings imo, consistency.

| no and no
Long had a good game yesterday, agreed, but he isn't at the level we need moving forwards, Fitzgibbon runs his blood to water in defence, but it all slows down too much in attack when he gets the ball, we paid good money for Westerman and he showed yesterday we need him on the field for as long as possible when fit.
We need to stop relying on ageing players for 1 or 2 seasons and start promoting the youngsters IMHO.

| Quote bringbackbuck="bringbackbuck"I say thanks to Fitz and goodbye. I think the salary he undoubtedly commands could be spent with greater effect on a younger marquee signing. That's not to belittle his contributions but he is slowing though still buts in a great shift.
As for Long I say goodbye and good riddance, has never justified the outlay we have made on him and again the money could be better spent elsewhere. Can't believe we'd offer him a deal.'"
Exactly how I see it. Even if long was playing out of his skin every time he was on the field, he's way too injury prone to be our 1st choice scrum half

There's an argument for that in fitz's case but long is too injury prone for us to spend any decent amount of money on

| Long shouldn't be offered a new deal, this latest injury setback will mean he's played just 21 games in a season and a half. A dislocated elbow and a broken finger are unlucky injuries but we need our scrum half on the pitch not in the stands.
Unsure on Fitzgibbon, what he has brought to the team in terms of leadership and his defence cannot be questioned but we have to look to the future with Westerman.

| Long injured again, probably the reason why he should not be given a new deal unfortunately.
