God knows what he'd have been like if he'd had Tompkins in his earhole for eighty Minutes. It was bad enough as it was.

It was a bit soul destroying but there appeared some ‘shepherding’ going on at the game yesterday by the officials.



I often think it’s down to lack of investment in the training of the officials but yesterday in a number of areas it was hard not to view the way Grant and co referred as impartial.



The time that Catalans were afforded on the floor was diabolical and the constant flops that went unpunished in almost every tackle which allowed their line to be set before we could even struggle to play the ball. In contrast we were penalised with repeated six agains for holding down.



When the linesman and ref missed Gaskell being taken off the ball and the crowd went crazy he gave a six again to cats shortly after when there was no visible infringement was just a two fingers up to the trinity fans.



Yes we started terrible for the first 10-15 minutes but we did sort it out in defence after that but to an extent we were ushered away from good field positions repeatedly.

Tompkins kept coming on as 'waterboy' and kept offering the referee water.

Sorry but I just watched on highlights that Catalan dragons player May go in as 3rd man on Murphy who was pretty much stopped and pull his legs up and almost dump him on his head.



How on earth was he allowed to come back on the field? That could have done some serious damage to Murphy back/neck. Even worse there was absolutely no need to do it.



Tom Grant wasn’t even going to penalise it too and only stopped play because the TJ run on.

Haven't seen it back but I'm amazed it wasn't a red, particularly with what players were getting sent off for early on in the season. I noted that Grant wasn't going to punish it either.

It’s worse watching it on the superleague highlights. Should have been a straight red. I can’t fathom how differently a ref can police two teams in the same game for offences. I’m struggling to excuse it with the usual ‘inconsistency’ or ‘human error’. It’s one of the very few ocassions I actually come to the conclusion it was biased and intentional rather than just inept.



There’s nothing that you can do though as you can’t question them.

There's plenty not to like about that man regarding his refereeing, but I'll tell you the worst thing about Grant as far as I'm concerned and that's his arrogance the way he dismisses players who try and question his decisions, he used to be a good ref that's why he got promoted to SL, since then he now thinks he's bigger than the game, I think he believes he's never made a bad call, what a phenonemon he truly is.

Thats one way of putting it....

As others have said the poor standard of officials is killing the game as a spectator sport. I have no enthusiasm for the game I watch my team that's it. That is in question at the moment because the way the game is going enjoyment becomes anger. I don't need to pay to watch a bloke that kill a spectator sport it's a joke and the rest are not much better. When it becomes a discussion of the officials the game as entertainment has lost it!

Difficult to say with this referee whether its being biased because everybody already knows he is inept. He really is the worst of a very bad bunch.



Anyway the Catalans player has been banned for two games, not that it helps us.
