So Hull hope!
Think the overseas issue is a sticking point at the minute, if he'd have got himself a british passport I think the deal would have been done by now.

I saw nothing last season from Tommy Lee to warrant such lamentation. Also, if it was a choice between Obst and Lee, it would be Obst all the way.

| Not sure how Lee would have been better as hooker, I will cite two examples :
(1) His defence other than the odd "big hit" was suspect and that was playing wider out in the defensive line. Consequently, I would not have any confidence of him being able to make the required tackles down the middle of the park.
(2) His distribution in my opinion is too slow and his decision making is poor. I remember the Cas game at home, he jumped in at acting half and all he needed to do was pass it to Hickey and he would have scored, but didn't and we lost.
He certainly in my opinion isn't better than Andy Ellis who will be our main hooker and I think Wildie, Davey and Wood all offer more as second hooker than Lee, so no great loss for me.

I cite two more examples:
1) defending with space around you against faster players is not the same as defending a straight on runner with props either side of you. When he defended in the middle he was fine. Big hits especially.
2) Passing from the floor is different to running with the ball and picking a runner. If he was slow, his longer pass makes up for it. You don't catch and pass from hooker, you are firing from a standing start. It is very different....speaking from experience
and for a third, his try against Bradford at the end of season was a perfect hookers try, running on your own, and battling through heavy traffic to get the try.
I'm not saying he's God's gift, but he is better than you say imo. I'd have given him a chance, but if he doesn't fit for Agar (again) I'd rather he go. I bet Brown gets good results with him.

It wasn't players with movement and pace that were always the problem for Lee, for example it was him who wafted a loose arm at fatty widders for what proved to be the winning try against Cas at the back end of the season.
Re distribution - If he was a natural hooker as a number of people are suggesting, he would have had no problem getting that ball quickly out of acting half to the on running Hickey with the last play against Cas and we would have won the match.
A lot of people seem to have Lee down as a hooker, but wasn't he a scrum half when he was at Hull?
Either way it don't matter now as he has gone.
