| Quote {Hogan}="{Hogan}"Briers is a prick who has stolen a living for years, the wire fans are so stupid that they cannot see any bad in him.
Gobe and always will be.'"
I can't beleive i've just read that statement! Briers steal a living?
When Briers plays well, the team responds and more often than not wins! Wether it was at Saints when HE got them to the cup final to be dropped for Goulding, for Warrington or for Wales!
Consistancy is the problem (with warrington and lee) but there isn't a smarter RL player in the game.
If you don't beleive me read Gordon Tallis' book!
His loyalty to Warrington has been his downfall, playing behind an average pack (at best) and with dead-wood in the backs for most of the time he has been with us!

| The thing with briers for me is that he is a really good playmaker, and yes I can see what Wire Ste is saying. When he plays well Warrington play well.
But as said above he's like a little kid on the pitch. Always around the referee like Sinfield does at Leeds, and always trying to "milk" a penalty.
Diving on the floor when no one has touched you to get a penalty in Rugby is worse than a footballer diving in the box to trick the ref. You're playing rugby, get up and play the ball and stop acting!!

Ask yourself why Briers settled for Wales. He's a good player on his day but is too inconsistent and a poor professional IMO.

I understand your point about milking penalties. But thats the nature of the game these days, the best players/teams are the one's that can slow down other teams and 'win' rucks and 'win' penalties. Langer was one of the best at taking a tumble after a kick, and got plaudits for it time after time.
He is a fast thinking character that you want on your side because he annoys the opposition, then they go to take him out, resulting in another penalty.
Class act behind a class pack, wish we had Morley/Carvell et al 10 years ago when Briers was a bit quicker!

Because he is Welsh and proud of his roots. Very much the same as Lam choosing PNG over the Aussies. Should be ridiculed for putting your hand up for your country!
The guys who should be getting the stick is those bailing on the lesser countries to play for a bigger team, such a Calderwood last year

Yeah, deserves credit for sticking with the Scots! I'm sure he would have got the nod for England if he pledged allegiance to them

Now how hard he pushed him is a different matter, but maybe your annoyance should be at your player for a silly push for no reason other than to slow the ptb down. Had Briers not gone down, no penalty would have been forthcoming, and Tomkins' cheating would have worked, as he would have slowed the ptb down.
It's quite simple, don't push him, and he wouldn't be able to go down easily.
