| Quote Grimmy="Grimmy"Did Daniel Pyke ever get anywhere? I know he played for Britain at BARLA level. From my year no one made it, though I think Adam Hunt used to be on Wigan academy's books. We had a terrible team though to be honest.'"
Pykey was on Wigan scholarship but broke his leg which seemed to end his stint there. He played for Leigh reserves for a couple of years as well as Ireland students not too long ago.
He was playing for Shevington this season.

| Quote Cruncher="Cruncher"Fisher's certainly done its bit over the years. It's a pity other Wigan high schools don't still follow their example.
According to my grandson, there are several schools in the borough where football is now treated as the equal of TGG.
Many sports masters of the Wigan past would turn in their graves.'"
When i was at Fisher it was either the rugby team or nothing as far as sports went. Just as it should be imo.

Was also Bruce Johnson who was at Saints but ended up in one of the lower league sides.
Also Neil Budworth went to St Peter's (I think) started off for us who is now at Celtic via Harlequins.
Malcolm Alker at Salford was also at St Peter's.

| I noticed that for some reason many catholic junior schools played rugby over the years but non-catholics played soccer.
These players must feed the Catholic high schools so maybe thats why they produce more professionals.
I expect the non catholics produce the professional footballers.

Well, Abraham Guest - a non-Catholic school, produced Lee Croft and Peter Atherton who are two of Wigan's only professional footballers.
Incedently, Crofty played for our school Rugby team and was very, very quick.
