| So now we've got Hampson and Radlinski on the books, surely Phelps should be in line for some overtime, learning from 2 of the best fullbacks ever.

| Hopefully these are the best people for these jobs and will help the further development of the club. I would hope their geographical location had nothing to do with the appointments.

To some extent the geographical location will have had something to do with the appointments. It's only a part time job and it would have had to have been someone close and local to the area for it to be plausible for them to get here. Someone from Leeds for example living in Leeds wouldn't be interested.
Unless of course you are referring to 'where they were born' instead? If you are, I don't think there is a cat in hells chance that we have just took someone on board because they are from Wigan. I at least respect the intelligence of our management team enough not to doubt that.

There seems to be a feeling that IL is trying to build a club staffed largely with Wiganers (which many on here have been crying out for, and which Rads implied might be a solution to the absent 'Wigan ethos'), but to be fair to him, most of his appointments have been of lads who have earned a substantial reputation within the professional game. It's not like he's picking people off the street.

| The local coaches who have been given such a great opportunity at Wigan should give encouragement to other local coaches who may get a chance in the future.
From the article on the Website, I took particular interest in the fact that Michael Maguire was keen to promote local coaches. Hampo being back excites me and as mentioned if Phelps had some coaching time with Radlinski AND Hampson it'll surely benefit him even more so than being 'under the wing' of Rads alone.

He was strength and conditioning coach for GB not so long back so I wouldn't worry too much about that

He also switched codes and played for Salford iirc.
Was unlucky that at the time he played he suffered (imo) from bias that cost him more England RU caps.

Nail on head there.
Great to see local coaches (and ex-players) at the club. We must hope that this it is coincidental and not "jobs for the boys".
