You need to ask if there is anyone better available. We have gone through the change the coach whenever the wind changes direction and look where it got us. We should let it run till August and see where we are then as Noble is off contract at the end of the season it is then that I.L. needs to assess the situation and decide if he wants to renew his contract or find a replacement we should not panic as we have done in the past.

| When there are coaches like Folks and Murray available yes! Add to that Brian Smith is available at the end of the year it becomes a big yes!
Had Noble left us at the end of last season i think he could have been looked upon as doing a solid if unspectacullar job at Wigan, I fear this is a season too far and could have ramifications on his future ability to get a job.
I would be shocked if IL was not already looking to see who is available for the 2010 season, potentially earlier. We will have a good budget to spend in the build up to 2010, so a new target needs to be all but in place asap in order to ensure we get the players he wants.

| Only 15 votes when writing this but still a hefty majoirity in favour of keeping Brian Noble.
The last thing I think this club needs is to get back onto the coaching roundabout which, no surprise, only took us in circles ending up where we started.
Noble & IL should be allowed to build the squad and bring in the players we desperately need.
All this talk about signing Gleeson, obviously I don't know anything.
What I do know very clearly is that we are being linked with signing the best British centre in the game. That's the calibre of player we should now be looking at. I'm very pleased with those rumours for that reason.
We must have in the region of 33-40% of our salary cap OOC end of this year. Plenty capacity for bringing in quality players.
If Gleeson is the calibre we're looking at then IL & BN should be allowed to get on with the job, uninterupted and with our full support!

| Quote Andy Greg="Andy Greg"You need to ask if there is anyone better available. '"
Well Noble wasn't available and we got him, so no you don't.
Quote Andy GregWe have gone through the change the coach whenever the wind changes direction and look where it got us. '"
Surely the pertinent question is after just about 3 years in charge where has Noble got us? You did read that post from Wigan/Leeds/Andy that proved under Noble we have gone backwards didn't you?
Changing a coach after three years is not changing a coach whenever the wind changes. It is nothing like that. After three years any coach who has done what Noble has done to Wigan should not expect to get a new contract and no one should be wringing their hands Wigan are sacking another coach as if this one would be some repeat performance of a Mo or DW knee jerk reaction. He has had ample opportunity to improve the side and currently as we stand today he has failed to do so.
There seems to be a notion that stability is more important than what the coach actually achieves. Given how we laughed at Wire as they kept Cullen on for years and did nothing I can not understand why some people want us to follow suit with Noble because that is exactly what we are doing.
Quote Andy GregWe should let it run till August and see where we are then as Noble is off contract at the end of the season it is then that I.L. needs to assess the situation and decide if he wants to renew his contract or find a replacement we should not panic as we have done in the past.'"
So what do you think he should be judged on? The games between now and August or his complete record here at Wigan? If he does just about OK between now and August is that good enough for him to keep his job given the dross his team has served up over the last two seasons and the start of this?
I would say he has already under achieved to a sufficient degree that he should be out of a job by the end of the season (and if we carry on as we are before then) even if we win the Cup as that would be a fluke!

To be honest I think if we replace him it ill be at the end of the season....so replace him would cover that....I just thought it was time we had a poll as opinions are split...For me I think he may well go at the end of the season...the only way he may go sooner is if Barrow beat us (unlikely..but not impossible).

| [iI think a 50/50 split is about right.
Hardly a massive number of voters and I wouldn't say us lot on here are all that representative of the average supporters but on this I would think 50/50 is about right.
there are a few factors thought that come into play and distort the vote from just being about Nobby and how we is doing...
We have had far too many changes of coach in the past that achieved nothing, really, other than destabilizing the club.
Lots of people wanting to stick with Nobby only want him to see out his contract then they want to change.
Other people are asking who is available to replace him? As if the only people you can offer the job have to be currently unemployed!
Voting to keep him in place based on this is daft. plain and simple.
FWIW ... IMO
I said from the start of this season that I think he will be here as long as we are in the cup. If we make the final he will see the year out.
I may be wrong, it might not matter how we go he might be here all year anyway - regardless.
But if I am right I will be happy either way.
We will either get to see Wigan when we visit Wembley - about time too
in which case I'll live with Nobby being here OR
He will go and hopefully we might get a coach who serves up more imaginative play than the five drives and a kick he has been boring me to tears with!

| For me, Noble was the right man to get us out of a hole at the time, however it's clear from his time at Bradford, GB and at Wigan that whilst he's not a bad motivator, he's lousy tactically.
MAybe rather than replacing him, what we really need is an attack coach to work alongside him. I'm not suggesting a Clarke & McInnes scenario, as there's too much scope for egos, however am attack minded 'right hand man' for Noble would probably be the most sensible option. Then again, it depends on how high and mighty Noble's attitude is, and whether he would wear such a situation.
As an aside - and I know he's not available right now, but then again neither was Noble when we took him on. I reckon coaches don't come much better than John Kear. He led Sheffield to their win over us at Wembley, was Stuart Raper's right hand man when we were written off at Murrayfield and came out victorious, and he led unfancied Hull to a good win over Leeds in the Challenge cup final. Look also what he's doing at Wakey.
I'd seriously look at him before looking at these fancy Aussies everyone's on about.

Kear would i feel have been Wigan coach by now had he not been forced out under a cloud, this is also the reason i do not expect him to be interested in the future. I would love him to have a crack but cannot see it.
