| Whatever. As long as the game stays the same, I don't care what it's called.
But that kneejerk reaction doesn't stop the fact that our paymasters are keeping the game afloat, and there is nothing that can be done to change that. When Sky became the sole broadcaster of the game, I said at the time that this would be the upshot, but no, everyone wanted more money piling into the homeland clubs to (largely) stop the W***n stranglehold on the game.
Now see where that has got us.

| They get money from the RFL. TV monies for the Thursday games comes from the co-op sponsorship of the championships, which i don't think is any more than £4000. Not sure about money from the RFL maybe somewhere between as little as 25k and as much as 100k. I am sure someone on here will know the figures though

Minor technical... Sky's not the sole broadcaster. BBC has highlights rights to Superleague, and exclusive rights to 7 live Challenge Cup games, including the final. More than half the people who watch RL in any form, are viewers of the BBC's coverage.

| it all comes from the RFL 'coffers' which is achieved through a number of financial sources, thats how they get around saying its 'TV money' when in fact its RFL money.

| thats probably more like it JC hence a few posts ago I said that the team coming down from SL won't be prepared for the sudden dramatic drop in income and IMO will suffer very badly and may not survive in the short term.

That would be a joke if they did. The team coming out of SL has had at LEAST 3 years of SL money which way outstrips what CC clubs get. They have also had more than enough time to get there ar$es into gear and meet the franchise criteria. If they haven't done this then they should realise whats coming and save some SL money for when they are in our league.
Any team coming down has had way more money given to them by the RFL over recent years than any team in our league. The last thing they should be getting is MORE money off the RFL for failing to meet franchise criteria.

| I don't think there is anyway that the current format of our game could carry on without the so called £42million that SKY give the game. SL would go belly up and the RFL as it is now would not exist. It would have a massively reduced budget to deal with so a restructure and possible administration would happen. If I am wrong about this Wembly tell me but I think alll the money that comes from Sport England goes to clubs and new areas of RL and none to the RFL so that can't be used without a bit of dodgy accounting. There are no slots on terestial TV without only playing games on sat and sun afternoons so a bigger deal with them is a no no. ESPN would only do the same to us as SKY are doing. An Idea that Russel Crowe raised about the world club challenge being played in Las Vegas may not be a bad one as that could open up potential new investors. I am affraid that at this moment in time SKY TV have us by the cahonas.

Agree with that,
I think any club coming out of SL will go bang very quickly unless it gets some serious financial assistance as all its revenue drops significantly.
As it stands Crusaders must be the favourite due to the massive amount of problems they have had since day one but to put them down would end that club immediately so the RFL will need to think very carefully what it does.
It actually makes you realise just how well run Leigh have been to survive all these years outside of SL (with its instant access to finances and high profile exposure to new support that being in SL brings), we have been the best most consistant club in the lower league since SL began which is a credit to those that have run this club with all the financial restraints that brings over such a long period.
