What sort of help ?

Help in getting junior sides down at the club they have lost a load of kids ,great clubhouse good facilities .

Isnt that what you was posting the community dept was supposed to be doing attracting younger people to the game ?

, that would probably preclude it from actually setting up and running individual amatuer club teams

I work with John regularly with regularly at my School, he is awesome with the kids and the game in the Bolton is taking off slowly. Wigan don't seem to be going any further than Daisy Hill/Westhoughton with their community work so Leigh are trying to take advantage. The signs are very encouraging and hopefully these will pay dividends further down the line.

Wig&n Community department were at the school last year, looks like Leigh have taken their place this time.

You seem to have some kind of issue with the community department? We all know in the perfect world with unlimited resources, they could do much more, but mean while lets applaud them for the good things they are doing.



As you probably know only Leigh East have teams at all age groups, so all clubs need help.



In the past when the community department ran a school's programme at the end they have previously 'just' given out info to the kids of local clubs for them or their parents to follow up themselves, they are now for the first time working with the clubs and running hand over sessions, where they continue working with the kids outside of school at the clubs for a few weeks, hopefully helping the kids make the transition from school to club RL. Some of the clubs are also helping with the in school sessions, which also helps.



Will it work? I don't know but what i do know is the Award Winning Community Department are at least trying.



I'll try and confirm it at our next meeting but if I remember right Golborne and Atherton are the first of the clubs being targeted.

Martin I have no problem what so ever with the community department I am merely asking a couple of pertinent questions.



I know Golborne are struggling and as they are a club in the Leigh District surely it is worth utilising the facilities down there and to see if all parties can identify why there are few kids playing in that area ,an area smack bang inbetween two major superleague clubs and of course Leigh Centurians.



I would have thought that would have been a worthwile project within its capacity and roles.

However Duffy has been there this year, which may not have gone down too well with the woman from there who works with him, who is a massive Wigan fan?!
