Quote Hillbilly_Red="Hillbilly_Red"I have a concern here that Forever Reds seems to be about fund-raising. Although this is a very impotrant factor, I feel we need a forum (at least) where we can assist the club to go forward. This is no criticism of the efforts put in. Its more a personal view that the future is worrying.'"
You are partly correct in that Forever Reds have been involved in fund raising and when it was formed that was the whole idea so that the year we were relegated a large sum of money was needed to be raised to enable the team to stay full time and we succeeded in our first test.
Forever Reds is the perfect forum to assist the club to go forward and at each meeting the fans are always asked "Is there anything that anyone wants to bring up"and on some occasions people bring up points that they are concerned about IE The stadium, the coaching staff, the players etc.and the standing area at the new stadium was brought up firstly at a Forever Reds meeting and the club acted upon it in its plans.
The assistance that has been given by Forever Reds towards the Academy players was requested by Alan Hunte with a view to improving the Academy set up which I feel has helped Alan to improve the set up behind the scenes.
The equipment that was provided for the use of the club physio's again has improved the medical staff's ability to work on the players after injuries.
The fact that Forever Reds has sponsored Jordan Turner has helped the club financially in a difficult period.
The proposed purchase of a defibrilator for use again by the medical staff in a emergency must improve the medical response when required.
The Forever Reds members that I come into contact with some young, some a bit older, and others well into their pension pots only want one thing, for the club to prosper and go forward for another 100+ years.
If more people became involved with Forever Reds there would be more ideas coming forward from people of different backgrounds which can only make things better for the trust and the club and its fans.
