Quote Wigan-born Deacon, who still lives in the town, will join the Warriors on a 3-year Assistant Coach contract supporting Michael Maguire and Shaun Wane but will operate also as a First-Team Player in 2010. Paul will combine his duties as Player and Assistant Coach before taking up the position of Assistant Coach full-time in 2011 and 2012.
'"
Chairman, Ian Lenagan, added:
Quote “As I have said before, one of Michael Maguire’s remits as Head Coach is to develop top-quality, young Wigan coaches that work beneath him. Just like Shaun Wane, Michael will be able to take Paul’s skills and mould him into a Super League coach of the future. We have signed Paul primarily for his obvious potential coaching abilities but there is no doubt that his playing ability could be of significant benefit to us in the short term.
“Paul will have specialist duties as a Kicking Coach and a Half-Back Coach where he will help nurture the incredibly talented Sam Tomkins plus young Joe Mellor, a player who we regard as a potential Wigan star of the future, together with helping Thomas Leuluai to develop his game even further.”

| I'll be sad to see Deacs go as he's sort of become part of the furniture. But time moves on and the management do seem to be delivering on their promise to move the club forward. I for one can't wait for next season.

| Great servant to the club, a Bull to the core (even if he is really a pie-eater) and goes with my best wishes.

| Bulls legend yes, no doubt about it, but cannot say I am sad to see him go. Two years too late in my opinion.
Anyway, thanks for the memories Deacs and good luck.

| Deacs is no doubt a true legend and although my head says its the right time for him to go my heart is shouting NO DON'T GO!!!
I have to admit i had my doubts in the beginning but thought his true strength came out of the Shaun Edwards debacle and he ended up being the steady hands for future success.
Many will say that any player will do well behind a good pack and for many years that could have been true. However I do feel that over recent years Deacs has done a stirling job behind a pack that has not protected him. I can't believe he lasted this long with some of the hits he's taken!
Deacs, a true legend, not only in Bradford but in RL general. I honestly wish you success in your new venture.

| Deacs has been a brilliant player for our Club. He has been at the forefront of most of our success and I've lost count of the number of times his goal kicking has rescued a game. Immensly brave for a relatively small guy I think that over the last couple of seasons he has been targetted by the opposition and been subject to several vicious attacks off the ball; not"late tackles" but vicious attacks. He always came back though. Many thanks for fantastic memories Paul.

| The man has put his body on the line for the cause for us and deserves a rest. Good luck Paul and I hope to see you back home as part of the ccoaching team at some time.

| as a few have said its the right time for deacs to go. his performance have been dropping off from his own high standards for a few years now. He managed to raise hi game for the run in last year and leaves us with some good lst memories but another year would have seen him tarnish his record imo by trying to play one last season as first choice hb. a backup role at wigan is perfect for him. all the best paul and thanks for the memories.

Do not wait too long - Tigertit has been the person repsonsible for stalking SuperDeacs over many years & I blame HIM for Deacon leaving to join Wigan.
