It was recently rumoured on Sky Sports Extra Time red button programme that Chase was about to extend his current deal at Castleford. A contract that would make Chase the highest paid player in Cas' history.
Although in fairness that maynot have concerned Rangi Chase as the reporter insisted on referring to someone called Rangay Chase. He never mentioned Rob Burrows or even Rob Burrow though.

Rangi signed a new 3 year deal (with him also agreeing to having no buy out/get out clause in) a week and half ago, it will be announced within the next weeks or so.

Rangi has signed a deal, Worth about 200k a year running till the end of 2014. Should we get another license. He would like to sign again. He has no intentions on leaving the club, And definitely not to Leeds
Fwiw. Leeds couldnt afford him, The only offer you were making is player exchanges, And you dont have anyone in your team good enough to exchange
Warrington were willing to put silly money his way, But he has chosen to stay at Cas. And has requested there is no getting out of the deal. He loves the club, The town, The fans. So your stuck with an ageing 7 instead. Sorry

Your right. That is because Leeds are not a desperate club that can only keep a star player by giving him a very large chunk of the salary cap. You remember the effect the Harris signing had on Bradford with his large salary? If you think its worth compromising squad morale and the quality across the squad to keep Chase then so be it. |

I particularly liked the part where Chase has allegedly insisted there is no possibility whatsoever of him getting out of the deal.
I appreciate rugby players almost by definition are not entirely all there but surely they all have agents or managers these days to look after their best interests and ensure they don't make foolish decisions.
