ah the good old days I remember those tapes well!! Those tapes where a highlight of my childhood!! Barkers on garfoth main street got nswrl vids in and would have the weekly rounds highlights with a main game!! I remember seeing my first origin on those vids!! I remember when the broncs joined the comp too!! Happy happy days!!

Think it might have been a Barkers in Chapel Allerton, can't remember.



Used to get the midweek Panasonic Cup games (the NSWRL equivalent of the old Floodlit Trophy) and some of the big junior and schools games on them too.

It's worth remembering that in the year we signed Tony Currie we also signed Ricky Lulham and Wally Fullerton-Smith.

Two players of richly contrasting pedigree - one Origin player and Australian international, one relative unknown.



I kinda liked Lulham, he could play a number of positions with equal mediocrity.



Now there's a trivia question - the 11(?) antipodeans who Leeds fielded that season.



The aforementioned Currie, Lulham, Fullerton-Smith plus Steve Bleakley, Terry Webb, Trevor Patterson, Trevor Clark, Gavin Jones?

Another two who if their like were signed now would be slagged to death, Paterson won the player of the year, webb played consistantly well for Leeds over a few seasons, He was over last year, looks no diffrent, doing well for himself outside RL.

Used to stand behind an odd looking bloke the season in question, from the first whistle all he shouted was get f*cking ricky loofham on, he wasn't even on the bench.

Laurie?

Miraculously found himself rated in the World top 5 locks By Open Rugby in '84. Could just as easily be said that all he did was keep a superior British player out of the team.

A hard worker, but totally outgunned when British players discovered fitness in the mid 1980's.

Not that year...not after the Semi at Swinton in 1984.

Laurie's first season was webbs first season.
