It raises further awareness to potential investors/sponsors, and creates a desire to be alligned to that "world champions" tag. The potential sponsor can also use that tag in their marketing.



New fans to the game will also get carried away on the "bandwagon" from such an achievement, which can only benefit the club in revenue streams.

Despite the prize money and the chance to label your product officially the best in the world for 12 months he thinks anyone with half a brain should dismiss the WCC.

Fair enough from the marketing POV and maybe it will bring in revenue that way but from a playing POV I hate the game.



It's a massive distraction for both teams and I'm sure if asked, the players would prefer it played at a different time of year. We will have players who have played in 3 full games up against a set of players who played 10 minutes against Cronulla last week. It's just a stupid concept as it is and i'd rather Leeds just concentrate on the League at this point without having to play a glorified trial meaning we have to back up our players on origin duty later in the season.

Best product in the World? There's some deluded people on these boards if you think one uneven game means shiz when it comes to comparing the 2 Leagues.



We are 5 weeks ahead of them as far as preparation goes. That's why the games have been so close in the last few years.

Harrigan, that you value the LLS at all, let alone in preference to the WCC makes me think you have that half a brain you refer to.

In it's current format it's below the LLS which I dont rate very highly at all. What's good about the LLS though is that it gives reward for the team that goes good through the regular rounds.



Look, to me the SL is the be all and end all of competitions available to us in the domestic game and 2 points on the ladder is more important than a win in an uneven trial. I go to these WCC games but I have never walked away disappointed that we have lost and never really celebrated that we have won. I have applauded good tries from both teams and it's usually a good exibhition game. I just go because its a chance to see players I wouldn't otherwise see unless I was over there.

I do find myself disagreeing with you a lot lately.



You need to approach this like the NFL. The regular rounds are no more than a qualifying phase. The reward for league placing is advantages in the playoffs.



We agree. However, league placings and LLS are not a SL title. Anyone watching Leeds these last few years should get that,



To even compete in this game you have to win SL, you know, the "be all and end all". It's a game between our champions and the champions from the best RL competition in the world. yes, there are minor issues with the time of year and venue but, so what. If a game like this doesn't excite you, or excites you less than a LLS, I think you have your priorities screwed up, with respect.

Difference is that the NFL doesnt have even schedules. We play every team we are competing against home and away.







Yeah, as I said, I dont rate the LLS but I want us to win every SL game we play because it gives us more of an advantage in the playoffs... not that we need it.







I agree and I like the concept of the WCC, just not like this. It really needs to be moved to a time when both teams can be more competitive and where it isn't a distraction to the teams competing when preparing for their respective leagues.







It doesn't excite me more than winning a LLS. I just feel the LLS represents a bigger achievement than winning this game in its current state.
