Quote Keith Swiftcorn="Keith Swiftcorn"It's the point I've been making all along.
There's plenty here who seem to be salivating in anticipation of Wakefield getting kicked out of SL. They want it to happen.'"
Wakefield seem to be the obvious choice at the moment, given the financial problems they have had (which was the foundation of the rejection of Widnes' application) as well as the problems that they have had with securing planning permission for the Newmarket Stadium.
I personally am not salivating at the impeding licencing decision, though the process itself is something that i believe has improved, and will continue to improve the standard of club in the SL. Initially off the pitch and eventually on the pitch.
Quote Keith Swiftcorn="Keith Swiftcorn"I'm interested in discovering why these same people aren't quite as bullish about getting rid of Harlequins, Salford, Crusaders who offer even less to SL than Wakefield do? '"
Fair enough, but posting misleading figures for the Catalan Dragons doesnt lend any weight at all to your campaign, which is what i questioned.
Quote Keith Swiftcorn="Keith Swiftcorn"Catalans are held up as a SL success, yet their attendances (albeit OK-ish) are not outstanding, and do not dwarf those of Wakefield.'"
As noted above, the Stade Gilbert Brutus is currently being renovated, your point might carry more weight if attendences continue in their current vein upon completion of the renovation, as opposed to during.
And using the figures offered by TVOC, a 50% difference in the 2 clubs average attendance is quite noteworthy.
When you compare the accomplishments of the Dragons against the majority of clubs in SL since Catalans admittance to the SL, they should be considered a success. Admittedly they seem to have declined on the field over the past 2 seasons, but there are other, more established clubs that have also suffered slumps in the same period.
Quote Keith Swiftcorn="Keith Swiftcorn"Quins attendance against Crusaders today was 1,766. What are these two teams doing in SL? Where's the calls for those two losing their licence?'"
The calls are there, there are many posters on here that berate the inclusion of both teams in SL. But given the fundamental mismanagment of Wakefield for the last however many years, its not surprising that it is that club that are the main focus of peoples attenton in regards to SL licencing
Quote Keith Swiftcorn="Keith Swiftcorn"PS: I don't expect Crusaders to lose their licence yet... not while they owe the RFL an estimated £700,000 bail-out money. They shouldn't have been bailed out. The experiment in expanding SL into Wales had already resoundingly failed once they were sent packing out of South Wales. I look forward to their eventual termination however.'"
